Please find attached the letter prepared by HM Inspectors following the inspection of our school in March 2026.
Dear Parent/Carer
In March 2026, a team of HM Inspectors of Education visited St Margaret Mary’s Secondary School. During our visit, we talked to parents/carers and young people and worked closely with the headteacher and staff.
The inspection team found the following strengths in the school’s work.
-
Staff foster a calm learning atmosphere and have very high expectations for young people that ‘only the best will do’. As a result, young people are self-motivated, enthusiastic learners who engage fully in, and take responsibility for, their own learning.
-
Staff make creative and very effective use of digital technology. This approach supports young people with a wide range of needs to engage fully in their learning, making learning accessible to all.
-
There is a commendably wide range of activities which are open to all young people, both during and after the school day. Participation in these activities builds young people’s confidence and leadership skills; supporting them to reach positive destinations that meet their needs and aspirations.
The following areas for improvement were identified and discussed with the headteacher and a representative from Glasgow City Council.
-
Staff need to plan learning that enables all young people to experience appropriate levels of pace and challenge in their learning.
-
Staff should maintain their focus on providing young people with opportunities to attain as highly as possible.
