Message from Police Scotland

Dear Parents/Carers,

Antisocial Behaviour and Alcohol Consumption within Kelvingrove Park

Glasgow City Council Neighbourhoods and Sustainability (NS), working alongside Police Scotland and local housing associations, is committed to maintaining Kelvingrove Park as an area for everyone, with vast recreational, educational, environmental and cultural benefits.

However, we have recently seen a rise in antisocial behaviour (ASB) including alcohol consumption, noise and large scale disturbances within Kelvingrove Park. We are asking for your help to prevent this occurring in the future.

NS Park Management rules regulate the use of public parks and open spaces and clearly outline the safe and considerate use of these facilities for all persons.

Park Management Rules: https://glasgow.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=32754&p=0

If an Authorised Officer of the Council has reasonable grounds for believing that a person has contravened any of the management rules they may expel that person from the park. If that person fails to leave or re-enters the park they shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine.

We are therefore offering the below advice:

Do not allow your child or young person to be involved in, or accompany anyone who is involved in ASB or disorder.

Please report any ASB or disorder you are aware of to NS on 0800 027 3901 or Police Scotland on 101 (or 999 in an emergency).

We wish for everyone to enjoy Kelvingrove Park and the outdoor spaces across Glasgow and we are working hard to ensure residents and visitors benefit from these areas. The safety of Kelvingrove Park users is paramount; any behaviour that places people or property at risk will not be tolerated.

If you wish to discuss this matter further please do not hesitate to contact: Neighbourhoods and Sustainability: karen.venables@glasgow.gov.uk

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Yours Sincerely

Glasgow North West Partnership
